Christiansen Wedding
Hand-Drawn Illustration, Typography, And Layout
Design a cohesive wedding invitation suite that reflected the bride’s vision of a vintage, black-tie aesthetic with romantic red details and personalized touches. My sister, the bride, envisioned an atmosphere that felt timeless and elegant inspired by antique mirrors, deep red roses, and the sophistication of old-world design. She wanted the stationery to capture that mood from the very first impression, setting the tone for an intimate yet formal celebration.
The challenge was to translate her sentimental ideas into a refined visual system that connected every piece from Save-the-Dates and invitations to table cards and signage while maintaining harmony across type, illustration, and color. Balancing her love for ornate vintage motifs with a clean, modern structure required careful attention to typography, composition, and material choices
Design Challenge
Design Solution
To bring her vision to life, I hand-illustrated a vintage mirror frame that became the central motif of the suite symbolizing reflection, love, and timelessness. This illustration was paired with a delicate arch design around the couple’s portrait to create a sense of depth and intimacy. I selected an elegant serif typeface to reinforce the black-tie formality while keeping the layouts clean and balanced.
The color palette rich black, ivory white, and deep rose red was chosen to evoke romance and contrast. Each printed piece, from the Save-the-Date to the reception signage, shared consistent typography, spacing, and illustration placement to maintain visual continuity. By blending hand-drawn elements with structured composition, the suite honored my sister’s sentimental style while reflecting my own design sensibility for cohesion and craftsmanship
the tactile details of the wedding suite’s print materials, showcasing how floral illustration, typography, and photography come together to create an intimate yet elevated tone. The Reserved sign and table cards echo the suite’s hand-drawn rose motifs, blending romance and refinement through consistent type and color. Each element reinforces the couple’s vintage black-tie vision while maintaining a clean, cohesive layout across the event space.
